This is the construction photo site for J. Burton Guitars. When I build an instrument for someone I periodically update it’s construction progress by posting snapshots of the day’s activities. These are not posed, studio shots, but are works in progress.
People are understandably excited about the construction of their new instrument and love to see them come together. It’s a great opportunity to get feedback from the client when they see something they might either like or might have concerns about. I will often post which one? photos when there is a choice to be made such as bindings or rosettes, etc. It’s a great opportunity to share your photos and excitement with your friends as your instrument progresses.
Clients are often surprised at how many steps and details are necessary to construct a fine instrument. Don’t panic if it sometimes looks downright ugly, it’s gonna be alright. It will become a beautiful instrument by the time it is completed and will be capable of producing amazing music in your hands.
